Page two Foreword Following the immortal Shakespeare's words: All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players, They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts. W e the staff of the 1947 Crescent wish to de- pict in this edition one act of life's drama. It is the act of education, in which each young man and woman,s role is obtaining knowledge. W e have chosen to call this act, T he New Horizonsf' but in reality, it is merely the preparation of the future citizens for the attainment of these New Hori- 99 zons. The directors of this act, the teachers, have given to the graduating class of '47 all the prepara- tion possible, so that they may step out into the world and in the forthcoming years assume leading roles in the succeeding acts of life's drama. The scene is Minerva High School-the time of enactment is 180 school days. Your narrator is the backstage mouse, who spies upon the actors symbolized by the lion. Together they will weave the tale of school life for the past year. It may be called a drama, since it represents human life and action. The serious work under- taken is also interwoven with comedy, romance, and maybe a tear or two from the departing gradu- ates. It is our s in c e r e hope that, as you leaf through this book, you will find a few pleasant memories or an inspiration for a better role. If you will find but one, our work can be considered a success.
