George Morse Sergeant-at-Arms. . .. . ,.., Le Roy Kullander Adviser. . . . . . . ..., Mr. A. Fl. Robnett The Freshmen commenced their yearly round of activie ties in December with their Christmas party. At this affair, which was given in the gymnasium, all the guests brought gifts and then drew one at random. The next event was the Iunior Iinx. This party takes place annually and is sponsored by the lunior girls for the purpose of acquainting the Freshman girls with their upper-class women. Honorable mention was won by the Freshman tourna- ment play. The cast was made up of the following stu- dents: lack Hinshaw, Barbara Farnsworth, Bill Schultz, Bertha Woods, Virginia Caroland, Shirley Walter, lean Austin, and Phyllis Whipple. Bill Schultz and Phyllis Whipple both received honorable mentions for their out- standing performances. This play was directed by two senior girlsef-loyce Lynum and Virginia Beattie. This year's Student Body play, Dulcy, also contained four Freshman actors. lack Hinshaw played the role of l'Bill g George Schneider acted as Leach , the part of Butler was taken by Albert Combs, and the character portrayed by Paul Evans was that of Sterrit. The Freshman-Sophomore dramatics club, 'lThe Foot- lighters, boasted many Freshman members. lack Hin! shaw held the office of vice-president, and Phyllis Whipple that of sergeant-at-arms. Marna Wallstrom and Esther Setterland were chosen from the ranks and tiles of their class to become drum- majorettes for Milwaukie High School's band. To earn money with which to place their class picture in the Maroon, the Freshmen combined their efforts with those of the Sophomores and sponsored a movie, The Spawn of the North. Three boys from this class won letters for their outf standing athletic ability. George Bolin and Le Boy Kul- lander received their letters for their work in football, while Richard Hicks earned his in track.
