Every officer is advised by one or more teachers who help him carry out his duties. Since the responsi- bilities of managing the business of a large student body are great, their Jobs A ' ' ff are not easy and require a great deal of time and effort. Helms As the Seniors of 1942 leave Milwaukie Union High School this year, they will carry with them many happy memories and will have left behind them many accomplishments and contributions. Ralph Mosher was named captain of the football team by the boys on the squad. Other seniors on the team were Doug Iones, Herbert Haberlach, Don Allison, and Ernest Thompson. To keep senior affairs running smoothly, a Senior Permanent Committee was elected. The members were Ann lossy, Ralph Nortell, Mary Ann Iessop, Nance Bourne, Peggy Cady, Hugh Mills, Marian Herzog, Iohn Iones, La Veeda Varley, Chris Steres, and Ralph Mosher. The Seniors enjoying the soughteafter honor of membership in the National Thespians were Chris Steres, Barbara Wisdom, Ieanne Praggastis, Ann ,M yrs: lossy, La Veeda Varley, Louise Lau, and loyce Birke- meier. The Club took in five new membersfloyce Lynum, Calvin Hulbert, Beverly Slaney, Virginia Beattie, and Mary Ann Iessop. Lawrence McHill represented the Senior class in the Student Body play, Dulcy. This year, as in the past, the Seniors sponsohed the Alumni Dance under the directorship of the Alumni Dance Committee. Also, with the help of the Iuniors, the two classes elected a Prom Com- mittee headed by Carol Fisher, chairman for the entire dance. Warren Braun edited the Milwaukian this year, while the Maroon was under the editorship of lean Oshanic. Both of these editors went to Eugene to the High School Press Conference. Warren was elected presi- dent of the Oregon State High School Press Assoe ciation. Ioyce Birkemeier and Chris Steres were elected by the class to be the speakers for commencement ex- ercises and baccalaureate service.
