After his graduation from Pacific University, he became assistant coach here in l936. As head coach he has turned out teams of which Milwaukie may well be proud. At Pacific Mac won laurels for himself when he established the state scoring record in football. This record still stands. He has taken an active part in many other sports as well. Leonard Robertson, 'lBud, was one of the most popular members of the faculty at Milwaukie High. Because of his standing as a reserve officer he was suddenly called into the army. The students of Milwaukie were sorry to see him leave, but we are all certain that Bud will do his duty in the Army as well as he Carried on at the school where he was assistant coach. Mr. Erwin Lange, because of his accomplishments in track at Willamette Uni- versity, where he won three letters, has been cross country and track coach here for the last four years. During this time he has produced excellent representative teams in these sports. ln addition, Mr. Lange has been coaching wrestling this year, with two of the matmen under his supervision winning state championships. The Maroons, handicapped by graduation and many inexperi- enced players, chalked up a total of l9 points to their opponents' 84, which made our record five losses, three ties and one victory. ln the opening game of the season, Washington f-ligh of Portland and the Maroons fought to a scoreless tie in Multnomah Stadium. The first home game found the Maroons bowing to a tough Salem team by a l3 to O score, ln the third game it was an inspiring team that trecked to Astoria and gave the Fishermen a good scare, though emerging on the short end of a lll to O score. On a sloshy field the Maroons played their fourth game with Tillamook. The ending whistle found the score all tied up U to U. After a stubborn battle with our old rival Oregon City, the Maroons, on the Oregon City field, emerged on the long end of a 7 to 5 score. The following week found Albany invading Milwaukie, to trounce the Maroons 24 to 6.2 Time and again the Maroons were in Albany territory only to be repulsed each time. At Corvallis, the Maroons lost a hard-fought game by a l4 to U score. The last home game found Milwaukie playing Eugene, and after continually pounding at the goal, the game ended in a U to U tie. ln the last game of the season the Maroons lost a thrilling game to McMinnville by l3 to 6. With many experienced players and men that are true sportsmen, Milwaukie is looking forward to a successful l942 season. 7 4. K X . X , 2 ,M ,,f YQ,f 'i K.
