LaVeme Briggs Although the Sophomores have not been very prominent as an individual body this year, they have taken their part in school activities. After a very successful season, the Sophomore girls' soccer team emerged with the laurels. The team's captain was Sally Twohy. Gracie Powell, a Sophomore, was secretary of the student body. Olga Bubenik was president of the Footlighter Club. Elia Leibold, secretary, and Morris Rivers, sergeant-at-arms, were the other Sophomores holding offices in the club. Event of the year was the roller skating party on December 17, sponsored by the Sophomore class. Those Sophomores who were able to gain top honors in scholastic ability and appeared on the honor roll were Iarnes Caufield, Betty Plotner, and Amy lean Freed. The Athletta Club has several Sophomores: Sally Twohy. Gracie Powell, Dorothy Coykendall. Trudy Weiss, Marjorie Iones. Frances Nelson, Iune Postal, and Bonnie Bramblett. Sophomores in Iunior basketball were Chuck Metcalf, Ralph Cooper, Robert Yoshitomi. Dalton Brown, and Norman Hoskins. Stan Whipple played on the varsity basketball team. Clem Meeks and Bud Butcher participated in varsity football. The class adviser was Mr. Lange.

Second Row-Inky Boe, Elric Elliot, Kay Ellefson, Elsie Calder wood, George Anderson, Mary Yoshitomi JUNIOR CUP An annual event in the life of a Iunior is the presentation oi the Iunior Alumni Cup. The event is eagerly anticipated by the whole school. It is a great honor to be one of the candidates. and an even greater honor to be awarded the cup. Mr. Byers. principal. Miss Oliver, Iunior Class adviser, and William B. Adams, donor of the cup. form the committee that has the final authority over the selection of the candidates and winners. They are iudged on these four things: personality. scholarship, leadership, and participation in activities. This year's winners are Doris Iohnson and Owen Bauserman. Owen is especially noted for his manage- ment in Athletics. and Doris for her splendid leadership in Dramatics.
