Cole Rivers Bob Van Osdel, who was elected student body president last fall, welcomed the freshmen in September with the assistance of the Iunior Cup candidates, who were, Robin Oulton and Bob Van Osdel, winners, and Betty Steres, Nancy Oulton, Grace Strasser, Iean Van Blaricom, Yoshi Yoshizawa, Dorothy Oshanci, Natalie Holm, Dick Burns, Frank Bushman, Barry Brownell, and Verner Anderson. In one of the best seasons of football Milwaukie has ever had the following seniors participated: Bill Bradshaw, Captain, Richard Burnick. Enrice Penna, Frank Bushman, Bud Short, Lin Richardson, Ben Iones. Ed Frossard, Gordon Hoy, Ion Howell, Dick Burns, Iake Risley, Allred Spor, lack Falkner, Robert Landstrum, and Bob Van Osdel. The biggest event of Ianuary was the senior class play, Tons of Money. Betty Steres and Tom Metcalf were leads, assisted by Nancy Outon, Katherine Stonebraker. Patty Brownell, Athyl Lydon, Burton Gravelle, Mark Estes, Verner Anderson, and Paul Peters. This year's basketball squad was fast and smooth on the floor. The Maroons did not, however, capture the laurels. The team captained by Toots Howe included Dick Burns, Lin Richardson, Iack Eggiman, Iohn Ieffries, Floyd Baty, Iake Risley, Verner Anderson, and Babe Lind, representing the seniors. The boys let the girls walk off with the honor roll this year. Elaine Ianssen, Dorothy Oshanic, Winifred Strobeck. and Yoshi Yoshizawa had perfect cards during the year. The Senior Permanent Committee, under the baton of Frank Bushman, included Lawrence Secor, Bud Short, Barry Brownell, Lin Richardson, Dick Burns, Bill Bradshaw, Ion Howell, Natalie Holm, Shirley Kullander, Elaine Ianssen, Helen Marinos, Grace Strasser, Steve Fossatti, Betty Steres, Ioan Van Blaricom, Alice Bramblett, Ioyce Cowell, and Katherine Stonebraker. Girls in the senior class that have turned out for girls' sports for the four years of high school are Ioyce Cowell, Ioan Van Blaricom, Hazel Nelson, Alice Bramblett, and Rose Lattanzi. Milwaukie is proud and privileged to have the only Thespian Dramatic Club in the state. Many dramatists have gone from this club into higher fields. New members this year are: Athol Lydon, Tom Metcalf, Shirley Kullander, Patty Brownell, Katherine Stonebraker. Verner Anderson, Clifton Iames, Bud Short, Lawrence Secor, Nancy Oulton, and Rolyn Lynch. The cross-country team captained by Ion Howell captured, several records this year. Allen Coleman, Cole Rivers, Burton Gravelle, and Tom Metcalf were the seniors. Dorothy Oshanic won the D. A. R. contest this year. R Gordon Carney, Iohnnie Ieffries, lack Eggiman, Dick Burns, Russel Conrad, Paul Peters, Ed Frossard, Lin Richardson, Arthur Gustafson, Iohn Pickle, Burton Gravelle played baseball this year for the seniors. The following seniors assisted Grace Strasser, editor, on the Maroon staff: Bert Moore. Manager, Elaine Ianssen, Verner Anderson, La Varne Dumas, Tom Metcalf, Alice Bramblett, and Bud Short. The Milwaukian was edited by Dorothy Oshanic and Helen Marinos with the following seniors: Russell Conrad, Barry Brownell, Patty Brownell, Gordon Carney, Charles Seymour, Verner Ander- son, Laverne Iohnson, Yoshi Yoshizawa, Shirley Kullander, and La Verne Dumas on the staff. The closing of a four-year period at Milwaukie for the Seniors was the Iunior-Senior Prom.
