IO 811111 Xlllllflll Semor Class Prophecy Santa Barbara Calif june 1 1930 5 M HIS AFTERNOON whlle I was lytng under the shade of a palm tree Zak in near the surf thlnkmg of my school days and wondermg where all the fo wg boys and gtrls of ten years ago were suddenly from out of the sky a W HL, gnant hehcap dashed toward th earth and settled on the sands not far away wtth the ease of a thtstle down Bemg mterested In those machmes and wondermg who the sktllful pllot was I pushed my way through the crowd whlch urrounded the machlne to get a close up new of II To my great surprxse I saw If was no other than my frlend Fred Flscnet I had heard that he was In the A1r Servtce but I was surely surprlsed to see h1 n there After a regular old ttm greet mg we trolled up the beach for a qutet talk he was domg ltfe savmg duty along tue beach and only had thlrty mmutes befotc golng on duty agaln but before he had to go he wanted to tell me of the Class of ll 21 and thls ts what he told me I had two weeks vacatlon this prmg o I decided to break m my new machlne enjoymg a flymg VISII to every member of the old class Joyce Prescot was the ftrst one I called on she ts the secretary for a mlnmg company ln Northern Callforma ln whlch her husband ts a stockholder She was very busy so I dxd not stay long She was not too busy however to flx me up a lunch after eatmg I started for Oregon I had to make a landlng ln Salem for gas and as the Leglslature was m session I thought I would call on Alma and Anona who are both representattves from Clackamas County Fortunately I found Amy there too trymg to put over a b1t of legxslatlon ln the mterest of the c1ty of Alder crest All three were feelmg fme and were busy as usual We all went to lunch together but I could not get them to say much about what they had b en domg the last ten years they were all too mterested ln pol1t1es to talk about the past I dtd see a weddmg rmg on Amy s finger she would not tell me who he was but I have a good oplnxon of my own I left Salem qulte early In the evenmg because I wanted to get to Nlllwaukle In order to see Mayor Tapfer soon enough to go wlth htm to the show Mr Tapfer had purchased tickets for three and he and hts wlfe were wattmg We went to the new opera house at the corner of Mann and jefferson where the old telephone offlce used to stand Who do you thmk I saw there'9 Hazel' Playmg the leadlng roll m the openmg program And who should I ee at the ptpe organ but Lllllan Howells who dv' exceedingly well as usual I tried to squeeze through the crowd to say Hello to Hazel but lt was Impossible The way that people crcwded about her was amazlng She certainly IS wmnlng fame Early the next mornmg I went out to Aldercrest where Dat Smlth IS owner of a glass manufactur Ing plant He IS feellng flne and prosperlng As yet he does not hold any publlc offlce but I uderstand that he and hls wtfe are the poltt cal dtctators of the cxty While I was m Nltlwaukle I thought I could call on Ethel Vatnsdal and Dulcte Weller who are teachets IH the grade ehool I ylslted their rooms for a short tlme and lllllll I Iqhh r Il V Sl v V n MAI ON ll . .
