' v - H1 Sllfll Xuniln 1 0 THE GAMES Mzlnaullze 2 Canby II at Mzlwaukze In the first inning Canby obtained only one run and this was equaled with the home run made by Ed but from then on Nlilwaukie was held down while Canby kept on bringing in runs at the rate of one or two an inning Our weakness was in hitting and errors especially in hitting and Eds home run was the only thing of any account done by Nlllwaukle Mzlwclukze 9 Molallcl II at Mzlwaukze IVIolalla started right out with a lead of four runs in the first inning and l though Nlilwaukie played good ball they were unable to overcome this lead For practice the town team was played and beaten after an extra inning had been played by the score of 7 to tn Another contest was held with Commerce High of Portland m which Dick Adams pitcher obtained sixteen strike outs and the only hit in the game against two strike outs and two hits for Commerc We feel assured that we will defeat them in another game that has been arranged for some future date THE PLAYERS As catcher and heavy hitter we have Ed Tapfer and although he drives a Ford there is really nothing cheap about him Dick Adams is tossmg for M H S this year and as an example of his skill w struck out sixteen men If he leaves us this year which we are not sure of it will leave us in somewhat of a hole This is Bill Adams second year af shortstop Come out and watch him its really worth seemg Never a one gets through and the hotter they are the better he likes em On first we fmd Marvin Shrock the only human fence now in existence I-Ie gets after any wild throw and makes it come down where it can be of some use The captain and second baseman is Dar Smith whose baseball playmg far exceeds his size Bob Crockett on third base is stopping all that come his way and is also right there when it comes to batting In right field is Art Smith who can catch anythmg that goes in one direction that direction being down Although Wally Ashpaugh is a rook you could never guess it if you judged htm on his baseball merits Everyone is glad that his batting average is not his English grade Georgie Burnell the other rook playmg in left field is a second Ty Cobb and will probably make an excellent infielder next year Otto Witte makes up twice over in the outfield what he loses at bat Great things will be expected of him next year TENNIS A tennis club has been organized and the court is being repaired by them for use Elimination contests will probably be held to determine the best player and a prize given TRACK Nothmg has been done this year in track but there is p enty of material to choose from to form an excellent track team Last year Nlilwaukie placed second in the meet held at Gladstone with Art Johnston taking first place in the half mile P11111 7 lllllll HIIEL .'
