SCALE OF LEARNING volleyball champ trophy for this year, were: Mildred Wallace, Joy Wetherholt, Donna Sunderland and Mary Queen. CHAPTER V-ELEVENTH GRADE. september, 1955, entering as flighty juniors, we elected our class officers: President, Gary Rowseyg Vice President, Butch Leggg Secretary-Treasurer, Maxine Clay, who were sponsored by Mr. Eaton, Mrs. Peck, and Miss Wayland. This year, there was a change in our Head Conductor , and we were then guided by Mr. A. D. Bradford. Soloists Jimmy Cummings was elected as the Co-editor of the Miltonian this year. Members of our junior class orchestra who wished to become Future Homemakers and Future Farmers were: Mary Spurlock, Donna Sunderland, Leoris Roberts, Barbara Jackson, Mildred Wallace, Jack McClung, Don Elkins, Don Morrison, Jimmy Edmonds, Joe Moore, Mack Morrison, and Charles McCallister. Dolores McKnight, Violetta Burdette, and jane Hollandsworth, who kicked their legs high for the marching band, became our new majorettes. Soloists Charles Dailey and Christine Jenkins, our outstanding history students, attended Know Your State Government' Day , at Charleston, W. Va. The ever faithful musicians which upheld the name of the Milton Concert Hall, joined the football team. They were: George Cart, Don Weatherholt, Arnold Persinger, Butch Legg, Homer Alford, Jarrell Bledsoe, Charles Dailey, and Gary Rowsey. Those participating on the varsity basketball team were: Maxwell Roberts, Gary Rowsey, Butch Legg, and Arnold Per- singer on the B squad. From our junior class orchestra, Jane Hollandsworth and Maxine Clay were chosen attendants to Miss Greyhound , and participated in the homecoming parade, in which our class won first prize for the most outstanding float, with the theme, Win Without Boasting, Lost Without Excuses . Our year was highlighted with the junior plays, with fifteen of our musicians taking part in them. Jane Hollandsworth, jerry Templeton, Darrell Clagg, Lois Clark, Dixie Kelley, Cynthia Brown, and David Roane acted in the very hilarious play, The Displaced Baby Sitter . Fred Dailey, Mildred Wallace, Barbara Jackson, Jimmy Cummings, Bob Jones, Maxine Clay, Charles Dailey, Dolores McKnight, Dalvin Dailey, and Dixie Hutch- inson, acted in Scarry Hollow , a mystery. The most exciting event of the year was our junior and senior prom, in which many of our musicians took part. Our musicial theme was Stairway to the Stars . As we depart for the summer for our different vacations, we are looking forward to the coming school year with anticipation. CHAPTER VI-TWELFTH GRADE. As we reach the last step of the scale of learning, we are very proud to be the almighty seniors of ,S7. Our final Assistant Conductors were Mrs. Harshbarger, Mrs. Taylor, and Mr. Ball. Our Student Con- ductors chosen as our senior class officers were: President, Gary Rowseyg Vice President, Butch Leggg Secretary, Sue Billupsg and Treasurer, Maxine Clay. Our senior class was honored with the newacquaintance of Rhea Little from Rainelle, W. Va. Rhea joined the band, as well as many other organizations. Soloists Arlene Dailey was our new addition to the high kicking majorettes. Many of our senior musicians played var- sity football. They were guided by the three co-captains Charles Dailey, Butch Legg, and Gary Rowsey. Our senior quartet, consisting of Butch Legg, .Gary Rowsey, Arnold Persinger, and Bob Jones, were the four musicians who played varsity basketball. The star of our concert hall, commonly known as Miss Greyhound was Maxine Clay, escorted by Butch Legg. Other attendents were Dixie Kelley and Jane Hollandsworth fMrs. Frank Wintersj, escorted by Jimmy Cummings, and Jerry Templeton. We now have our class rings, which are mementos of our six years of musical learning. Future events which will close the happiest days of life are: senior skip day, class play, senior assembly, junior and senior prom and banquet, baccalaureate and com- mencement. We now have ended our musical learning and the time has come to go into the world and put forth our achievements. -SUE BILLUPS 1231
