ROMAN BANQUET Each year the Classics Department and Eta Sigma Phi, the classics honorary, sponsor a traditional Greek or Roman banquet. These banquets alternate from year to year. This year, they held a Roman feast with customary Roman food. The main course at this year ' s banquet was a barbequed pig. Entertainment was provided by a traditional Middle Eastern dancer. About 150 people attended the banquet, which was held at the home of Dr. Catherine Freis, Eta Sigma Phi spon- sor. Any student who is enrolled in classics or anyone in honor- ary classics may attend this yearly event. Dr. Freis says that the purpose of this banquet is to fantacize about being a Roman and to have fun. Classics students experience the Roman life in discussion groups (left) and outdoor frolics (below). At bottom, Dr. Freis welcomes the roasted guest of honor. 23

SPRINGOUT ' 85 Springout ' 85 was an afternoon of games for the college community. As its September counterpart, Fallout, Springout featured competitions between various teams which were composed of Millsaps stu- dents and faculty. Team members were randomly chosen from the various residence districts on cam- pus. Competition came in the forms of sack races, wheelbarrow races and an evening game of Trivial Pursuit, to mention only a few. When individual cate- gorical scores were tabulated for each team, a win- ning team was named at the end of the day. The day ' s experiences included being sprayed by a water gun (right), spraying the water gun (lower right), jumping around in a sack (lower left) and even some occasional horsing around by the refs. (below).
