Leo is a good student and in his four years here he has made an excellent scholastic record. He is absolutely individual, has his own ideas, which are as hard to overthrow as the Rock of Gibraltar, and he does not hesitate at any time to enter into an argument with a professor. ROBERT EDWARD SIMPSON ....... . Crystal Springs, Miss. - Bachelor of Arts Y. M. C. A.: G. L. S.: Preachers' League: Orchestra, '17, '1S: Y. M. C. A. "Brother" Simpson is one of Our student preachers. He did not enter his Senior year until late because he was filling a charge for the Methodist preacher at McComb City. He is a friend to all, and we have the utmost confidence in him. CHARLES GAEEOWAY VENTRESS, K .I . . . Woodville, Miss. Bachelor of Arts Ovvrseas Club: American Legion: Mid-Sr-ssion Dchnlcr, '15: Honor Council, '15: Pan-Hellenic Council. '20: Legion Editor Bobashcla. Charles is a jolly good fellow: a friend to everybody and everybocly's friend. He is not a confirmed bachelor by any means, but he considers books better instructors than society belles, and to his studies he has applied himself diligently. He was scheduled to graduate two years ago, but he answered the call to service. 1 1 f r 4 . L 1 R In 'B :1"' C-4- -:r Ka .5 + NIH.. ' Ls. The scenes on the dear old campus ln review pass one by one, And the faces of scattered schoolmates Recall the days that are gone. The annual Bane of our college days Rushes headlong to and fro, And the two with countenance fuzzy Have three where a lot ought to grow. Harrell, Bullard, and Buflcin fwith Tremalchio's dinner in viewp, l-lasten on to the library, secluded, Each to see what the other can do. And the boolcstone where boolcs are in need Has its devotees seeking their bread, They go not for boolcs, but to feast, And each fellow escorts a co-ed. Between the Freshmen and Seniors ls a family, distinct and select: The Knutts-they are fourteen in number- Believe me, they are the elect. Morse, Huntley, Shipman and Howorth, Our athletes brawny and strong, Carried off many an honor ln football, we'd wanted so long. Our faculty consists of thirteen men, With intellect deep and keen, And if put to a favorite vote Dippy Ducky and Prep would win. Sully comes with geology class, But Harrell star-gazes it through, While Bronco hgures it out in math, And Sanders jabbers "Parlez-vous?" Watkins stares with visage lengthy, Ferguson with the Preps does play, Hamilton and Key just ride their jaclcs, And Huddleston has little to say. Theres Mrs. -loyce, the school mother, joe Howorth with ambition possessed, And Collye Alford with high ideals- We call them Millsaps' best. These are pictures we'll always remember They'll help to brighten our way, And with roses will tint the shadows ln the twilight of life's long day. A. He knows football perhaps better than any other college man, and has played on the 'Varsity team for three years. Under the managership of such an aggressive player as "Ship," we can look forward to a good schedule next year. HUGH MCDONALD MORSE CAPTAIN AND MANAGER FOOTBALL, l9I9 'tDonald" served in the double capacity of manager and captain the past season. He knows football "from A to izzardf' and when it comes to grit and determination he is right there with the goods. He was a star player on the Freshman team, and when intercollegiate football opens up next season we are going to expect great things from "Donald," Page one hundred si f M 1, f-we J .wl- r ,na ,L , MU 4 'L -" -guna: , ,yn ' ,umm ff: 31 , :,af.:wy 1 4 A ' 1,445 ,Jin t ilf'ji:..:..4' 32 Q ',L.,,l. Sophomore Football Team Some very lively and interesting games were played this season between the various class teams. A spirit of keen rivalry existed almost akin to that spirit existing in inter- collegiate contests. The Sophomores, however, came through with a clean sheet. During the first of the season the Sophs defeated the junior-Senior team, I4-0. and next tugged with the Preps for 0-0. Then the Freshmen defeated the Preps, 9-0, and then the Sophs played a deadlock game with the Freshmen. The Junior-Seniors won from the Freshmen, I2-63 later, they defeated the Preps, 23-O. This left the cham- pionship to be decided between the Sophs and the Junior-Seniors. This was a battle royal. Standing like a victorious hero up to the very last minute, the Junior-Seniors yielded the victory to the Sophs when Stanford Morse kicked a held goal, making the score 3-0. AUSTIN LUCKY SI-IIPIVIAN NIANAGER BASKETBALL, l92O Austin is little, but he gets over the court like a whirlwind, and his opponents immediately get the idea that he accomplishes whatever he attempts. He is a crafty player, and has the disheartening fto his opponentsj trait of doing the unexpected. Austin also proved himself to be a very capable manager, as evidenced by the schedule of last season. CARL GLENN HOWORTH CAPTAIN BASKETBALL, l920 Moochien was our old reliable star forward last season, and when given half a chance he was usually coclcsure of a goal. He is quick in action and keeps a level head when on the court. Grit and "the gov' are parts of his natureg to be sure, his opponents know he is there and presents a serious problem to be solved. s Page one hundred len X V' , W I Q'-asrslfggif? l' ' 1 Eff ' 1 'F Varsity Basketball Team OFFICERS W.
