CRISIS MSC STUDENTS REACT TO IRAN CRISIS In o recent strow poll conducted by the SNAPPER, students were osked to respond to the question of whether or not they favored military oction in Iron if the hostages were either harmed or put on triol Of the 215 students surveyed, an overwhelming majority responded favorably to the idea of taking military oction. The results of the poll were os follows: For military action.......75.3% Agomst military action. . 21.4% No opinion.. 3.3% Many of those in fovor of oction expressed the opinion that the US should hove done something long ago ond that if action were not token, the U S. would be intimidated ond mode to look weak internationally Some students felt that the lock of oction might encourage the Soviets to moke additional military advances Those responding negotively to the question of military action gave reosons for their onswers by soying that it would couse World Wor III. ond that there wos really no reoson for wor. Mony of those opposed stoted their generol disbelief in wor for ony reoson. while others would not rotionolize wor over whot they felt wos o less important issue than the problem of Soviet intervention in Afghanistan The opinion wos also stoted that the Ironions do hove reoson to be hostile toward the American government becouse of the abuses suffered by the Ironion people ot the honds of American interests in Iron. Fother Keoly will be missed by oil who knew him. He brought o sense of wormih ond coring wherever he went. All of the people thot I tolked to soid thot even though they moy not hove known him very well, he mode on impression on them ond their beliefs. Relating to students seemed to come noturolly to Fother Keoly; he wos interested in the students. He never come down on anyone Fother Keoly is pro-life; by this. I meon he did not yell ot students for being bod or not following the rules'; he picked up on the good ospects of students lives ond activities He also osked the students to deal with the good of life not the bod thus creotmg on atmosphere of respect for o mon who shored his beliefs with the students.
