From microscopes (o lectures and hooks. STUm is a pastime of many forms. From microscopes students become “glasseyed or Mr. Biology : from lectures they become “sleep-eyed or interested; from hooks they become close-eyed or educated. The microscopes, the lectures, and the hooks are symbols of study. The Students greet these learning tools with such phrases as: “My isn’t my eyelash interesting-I wonder where my amoeba went. “If he talks a little softer and with a little less intonation. I’ll have the cure for insomnia. “This text is heavy reading Hercules couldn't lift it.” Yet. somehow the students pull through — sometimes looking or listening, other limes reading and thinking. IS
