Even though no profile was published for the class of '62, its mcinl crs arc well-known for their traits and accomplishments. In a very real sense, however, one trail of this class will always distinguish it as the “interim class— that class which stands I tel ween the classes which have gone before under former certification requirements and in the days when the College was strictly a teachers college ami those which will follow when new educational demands will he made in teachci preparation ami when the College will serve additional purpose? . While the class of '62 contemplate- the problems of the day. and plans to meet them in the far-reaching manner common to great teachers, may I congratulate you on your “interim status. RICHARD ZKKID Dir ret or of Inborn tor) School LABORATORY SCHOOL Millcrsvillo’s Laboratory School, located on the col lege campus, presents exceptional opportunities f« r slu-dents t » observe or leach in typical elementary school surroundings. Principally students in the elementary curriculum al the college take advantage of these ideal conditions to further their preparation for teaching. An outstanding feature of the laboratory School is its well-equipped library. Here the elementary children can find readings to suit their every fancy and the college student can find perfect examples of children’s literature. Reference hooks of popular, recommended and indexed lists of children’s books are available for student inspection. Closed-circuit televison has Iteen used extensively this year in the Laboratory School. This medium provides pre-professional exjtcricnres for elementary majors. It also is utilized on the basis of mass observation so that many students can observe the same class period. With the coo|»eralion of the foreign language department. the Laboratory School, now under the principal-ship of l)r. Richard J. Zerby. has continued the program of teaching foreign languages to the elementary pupils.
