MARY A. BRIGHTB1LL A member of the English Department and chairman of freshman Communications, Dr. Bright-bill will be remembered for experimenting with new techniques of teaching. In this way she manages to keep her classes lively, challenging not only the students but herself. Fundamental to her work is her interest in people. Dr. Brightbill graduated from Dickinson Cob lege, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and, after two years of teaching, entered Cornell University, from which she received the A. M. and Ph. D. degrees. In 1946 she joined the staff of Millers ville. She has a variety of interests, which include art, music, and her farm. It is here that she spends her summers when not traveling. For the future Dr. Brightbill has planned for herself four big trips to South America, Northern Europe, California, and the Caribbean. JAMES EDWARD KOKEN Mr. Koken joined our staff after being in the teaching profession only five years. His main ambition in life was to become a doctor, but because of the depression his plans had to be changed. However, he did receive his B.A. from Columbia and then entered the business world. Within a few years he became president of his own concern. Although Mr. Koken made out profitably in his business ventures, he did not find happiness. It was then that he decided to become a teacher, after first working for his Master's degree at New York University. Since he is much interested in people, Mr. Koken has been successful in this field. At present his goal is to obtain his doctorate in Education from Penn State. Whatever goal he sets for himself after this, we arc sure it will be worth while, and we wish him luck. SENIOR CLASS ADVISORS
