Isaar if. riurrlimi Isaac F. Seiverling was born at Brownstown, Lancaster County, Penna., Sept. 25, 1875. He received his early education in the public schools of Lancaster County. He subsequently graduated from the Inter-State Commercial College, at Reading, Penna., the Millersville State Normal School, Ursinus College and from Columbia University at New York City. After graduating from the Millersville Normal in 1897 Mr. Seiverling began his career as a teacher. He found his first works at teaching in one of the rural schools of Lancaster County. Mr. Seiverling became principal of the Akron Summer Normal School which position he held for thirteen years. With this successful experience to his credit Mr. Seiverling became Supervising Principal of the schools of East Mauch Chunk, Pa., following which he served in a similar capacity at Collegeville, Pa. In September, 1921, Mr. Seiverling came back to Millersville not as a student but as the Head of the Department of Mathematics. By assuming this position Mr. Seiverling became the successor to Dr. George W. Hull. Mr. Seiverling is one of the most popular members of our faculty, not because of his wonderful power as a teacher alone but because of his winning personality, very friendly disposition. Mr. Seiverling has ever been to us a kind, patient and sympathetic helper. He always wears a pleasant smile and has a kind word for all. We, therefore, the class of Nineteen hundred and twenty-three, do dedicate this twenty-fifth volume of the Millersville Annual as a token of honor and sincere esteem for our earnest counselor and friend. 8
