Freshmen Initiation ' Candyf Greeni Shoeshinef These sounds were echoing all over the school house September 15. The candy and gum was especially good because it was all free. Those shoeshines looked betterthan some that cost 154. Darlene was especially careful about polishing shoes, because she was to rub any polish that got on the floor off with her nose. ' Expert dietitians tell us you need at least l quart of milk daily. Glena must have been reading such because she came dressed in a baby cap, baby dress, and carrying a bottle filled- with milk. I guess there's more than one way to get a man. Anna mustihave thought she had a good excuse. Listen to thisi She came dressed as Daisy Mae, barefooted, a short skirt, and an off the shoulder blouse completed her costume. I don't know just why she chased Larry all over the school house. Was it his good looks or his Lil' Abner costume? Larry looked very quaint dressed as Lil' Abner. Oh yesf, The most interesting thing took place. Some kids told me they glanced around outside and saw Anna deliberately chasing poor Larry up a light pole. Wasn't that mean of her? One of the Freshmen must have thought it was .Tuly 4, or around there. Darlene came in shorts and a skirt made from bathtowels, ohf yes, of course, terry-cloth. Her face looked awfully sunburned. We had a very interesting hardball game with Green that afternoon, The Freshmen seemed not too interested in the game that day. Maybe it was just too cold to be - outside. That evening the Freshmen came up to the high school Wearing those same old clothes. Glena and Larry sang a very beautiful duet. The harmony and rhythm was simply devine. Anna gave us a very interesting technique of drying after taking a bath. The potato rolling contest proved to be most graceful, Larry Jones finished first. This was pure luck because the girls were doing much better than the boys. Next came the cracker- eating contest. My, what fmanners for high school pupi1s.' But I suppose it wasn't bad manners just good crackers. Larry the fresh thing, even let out a whistle. My mistake again. l just found out the first one done with the ' crackers was to whistle. The Sophomores took over from here and served refreshments. They furnished transportation to Junction City, where we went to a show. While at the show we saw many interesting sights, if you know what I mean. Thanking the Freshmen and Sophomores again.

Meet the Folks The Junior class presented this play, December 13 at 8:00 P.M. James Smith, a teenager, was about to give his first public speech and about to don his first tuxedo. His suit arrived - it was too large - and he got a terrible' sore throat. The maid took pity on suffering James and gave him advice on impressing the new girl. James big moments really boomed when the vice-president got up and gave the same speech he was to give. A free - for - all fight was started then because James was so embarrassed. But Pa and Ma returned just in time to prevent a call for the riot squad. It all ended well when the boys learned the new girl was engaged anyway
