Varsity Basketball Squad The starting of the season for the Milford Panthers proved that the Panthers, hadn't played together before. But in the middle of the season we started and played good ball the rest of the season. In the middle of the season we played Junction City B team and defeated them 45 to 42. Another team that was high in the league was Longford and we defeated them 44 to 43. The Panthers string of victories was increased during the middle part of the season. The big game of the season was with Wakefield, February 1. The game started ouft with Milford making the 'first basket of the ball game. The Panthers were in the- lead most of the time, leading at the half Z1 to 13. The second half the Wakefield players got off to a good start and broke the lead Milford had built up the first half. ' In the final minutes of the game Wakefield pulled out in front, but the last few seconds Milford scored and tied the game up at 32 to 32. Coach-Harold Spear Baseball-Basketball When the overtime started Wakefield was given a free throw and they made it, and that made the score 33 to 32 in favor of Wakefield. Then it was Milfords ,ball out and Milford made afield goal to put them in the lead 34 to 33. Wakefield made one more attempt to get another basket but was un- in successful in doing so. Milford recovered the ball and stalled the remaining of the game. r In the county tournament we played Longford the first night and were defeated 46 to 38.
