The football season opened two weeks before school started when twenty- three boys reported to Coach Kuhre. There were nine returning lettermen: John Aden, Ron Eberspacher, Lorence Forst, Dick Hershberger, Norman Kuzel, Ted Schirmer, Claire Shook, Delane Welsch, and Ron Williams. Others report¬ ing were: David Barker, Darrel Eberspacher, Donald Freeman, Tom Godbey, Richard Hauder, Maurice Jantze, Dallas Kotil, Ronald Schirmer, Ray Schweitzer, Keith TeSelle, and Jack Zimmerman. The Eagles came through with a very good season of six wins out of nine starts. They lost the three games by a total of twelve points. Milford outscored their opponents 294 points to 113 points and had a total of 2,998 yards to their opponents 2,056 yards. Milford finished second in the Trailway Conference with a 5-1 record. Those from Milford receiving all conference recognition were: first team, Ted Schirmer and Delane Welsch; second team, Norman Kuzel; honorable mention, Ron Williams. The 1951 football lettermen were: John Aden, Darrel Eberspacher, Ron Eberspacher, Lorence Forst, Donald Freeman, Tom Godbey, Richard Hauder, Dick Hershberger, Maurice Jantze, Norman Kuzel, Ronald Schirmer, Ted Schir¬ mer, Ray Schweitzer, Claire Shook, Delane Welsch, and Ron Williams. Seven returning lettermen began the basketball season. They were John Aden, Ron Eberspacher, Dick Hershberger, Ted Schirmer, Bob Stutzman, Delane Welsch, and Ron Williams. The varsity completed the season with ten wins and six losses. They scored 671 points, and their opponents scored 626 points. The varsity squad received the runner-up trophy in the County Tournament and placed second in the Trailway Conference ratings. The reserves had a very successful season with thirteen wins and four losses. The reserves were Trailway Conference Class B champs and runner-up in the County Tournament. The players receiving letter awards this season were: John Aden, Ron Eberspacher, Don Freeman, Dick Hershberger, Ted Schirmer, Bob Stutzman, Delane Welsch, and Ron Williams. Softball, touch football, hit pin baseball, volleyball, and basketball were the sports played throughout the year. This class helped to create better sports¬ manship as well as to develop skill in games. SPORTS GIRL—NAOMI EIGSTI Naomi Eigsti is Sports Girl of 1952. She was chosen by the girls in physical education as the one most out¬ standing in sportsmanship and athletic skill. Naomi well deserves the title of Sports Girl for she has shown top sportsmanship, not only in physical education but in all school activities.
