All work and no plav? Mr. Jack Mashburn and Mr. Glen Neswick, Assistant Principals (center) discover there is at least one moment of pleasure in a day of student problems. Mrs. Billie Perry (left) finds the daily job of a bookkeeper to fulfill the idea that happiness is a bank full of money. In the main office, Mrs. Ruth Erskine and Mrs. Minnie Faye Vaught (above) pause in their work to plan Mash- burn ' s Memo for the week.

Out wheit the handclasp ' s a little stronger. Out where the smile dwells a little longer. That ' s where the West begins . . . Midland is certainly a part of the real West it smiles are any indica- tion. These people wearing smiles hold the guiding reins of leader- ship. Mr. Glen . llison, in his third year as principal, help the stu dent bodv in making .Midland High School the great place it is. Fac ully member Mr. Calvin Baker (upper riglit) solves his problems by talking with Mr. Allison. Nurse Beverly Williams (upper left) does her thing to keep stu- dents in top condition. Out where the world ' s in the making. Where feiver hearts in despair are aching. That ' s where the West begins . . . The summer of 1968 brought disputed boundarv changes in the Mid- land School District. This problem was skQlfuliy handled by the ex- ceptional administration guided bv Dr. James Mailey. the new Super- intendent. He is familiar with this school system after serving as principal of MHS m 1958-1960. Dr. Mailey traces the new city bus routes for the Asst. Superintendents Mr. Harry Stanford. Mr. Je- rome Snyder, and Dr. Douglas Brown (below). Assuming major responsibilities are Mr. Jack L. Russell. Mrs. Mar- garet Cowden, Mr. Eugene M. Knight. Mr. Gilbert C. Thompson. Mr. Jack Matthews, and Mr. George Landreth who comprise the School Board (ri hlj- ot pictured is Mr. Robert Northington who replaced Mr. Martin G. Brown. Equally important are our counselors who help ease our aching minds. Mrs. Pat Balko. junior counselor takes notes on her patient (upper right). Odessa College lost a wonderful counselor in .Mrs. Balko. 16
