1969 has been a year of growing and oft-hanging at Midland High School. Our new principal. .Audrey Gill (left) welcomes our new as- sislanl principal. Stanley Cobb. . . . Out ii ' here a fresher breeze is blowing. Where there ' s laughter in every streamlet flowing, Where there ' s more of reaping and less of sowing — That ' s where the West begins . . . The eiemeiilal rrealions of Nature — brown earth, blue skv am) water, and the soft breezes of spring — are found in rieh abunilam r on the Great Plains. No lakes or rivers, true, but sueh minor misfor- tunes do not hinder water lovers (riglil) on the swim team. Mean- while other lovers stroll arm in arm through shade-speckled grass, and wayward kittens chase butterflies. And one more day of a memo- rable year passes.

Out wheit the handclasp ' s a little stronger. Out where the smile dwells a little longer. That ' s where the West begins . . . Midland is certainly a part of the real West it smiles are any indica- tion. These people wearing smiles hold the guiding reins of leader- ship.
