asain afl?55 We the lowly and forlorn Freshmen embarked upon our furst flight aboard Flagship M H S September 4 1951 flught tume beung scheduled for 8 55 that mornung Presently after the furst realization that we were aloft we settled back un our seats and began to enuoy flyung high Our crew members for thus flught were DON STRINGER furst pulot MARGIE NEILL co pilot BARBARA TOM secretary LIONEL CRISP treasurer WILLIAM BROOKS sergeant atarms and DON EVANS reporter Our ground personnel durung thus flught was composed of MR DON MITCHELL pruncupal MR JACK MASHBURN Dean of Students and MISS HELEN MILEY class sponsor Although we were merely humble fledglungs we dud have a few celebrutues un our mudst They were PAT GREATHOUSE and MIKE LIVINGSTON class favorutes We landed to present a show for the groundlung Sophomores Junuors and Senuors We called our show Freshman Frolucs Taking to the air agaun ummeduately after the show we flew easuly through the rest of the year We reached our funal destination on May 28 1952 When we descended ut was unanimous among us that our furst flught was both wonderful and profutable Our second flught begunnung at 8 55 on September 2 1952 was excutung because by now we were not so forlorn We fastened our seat belts and sat back looking forward to a very smooth flught Our crew for thus year consusted of LIONEL CRISP as head pulot MARGIE NEILL as co pulot MARGIE MILLER as secretary and PENNYE JONES as sergeant at arms The ground supervusors were MR DON MITCHELL principal MR MASHBURN Dean of Students and MISS JANE MOORE class sponsor PENNYE JONES and BUDDY McDONALD headed our celebrutues thus year as Sophomore favorutes We landed safely on May 31 1953 after a very successful flught Our third MHS flught was quute an event' We were funally upperclassmenl We boarded the plane at 8 55 a m September 8 1953 exactly on schedule The furst pilot WILLIAM BROOKS and hus crew members BUDDY McDONALD co pulot JEAN CAR PENTAR secretary and PAUL COLE sergeant at arms came aboard and to took off Dean of Students and MISS JOSEPHINE WEAVER class sponsor kept un touch wuth us as our ground advusors Thus year we had one of Queen Elaines attendants JOAN WHITE escorted by BILL MATTHEWS on board our shup Our other celebrutues were headed by MARGIE NEILL and LIONEL CRISP as Junuor Class favorutes WANDA MURRAY was elected Best All Round Gurl and LIONEL CRISP was Vuce President of the Student Councul In Aprul we landed to give our Senuors a wonderful Junuor and Senuor prom After thus exciting event we flew swuftly through the rest of the trup We touched ground agaun on May 31 1954 and left our Junior flight behund wuth memorues of ut that we would always hold dear September 7 1954 at 8 55 we boarded the M H S Aurlune Convaur Senuor As we took off we realized that un three short years we had come from the lowly and forlorn to the Hugh and Mughtyl It was our last flught and we could hardly belueve ut We chose WILLIAM BROOKS pulot WANDA MURRAY co pilot DEAN CARPENTER secretary and DOTTIE SAND treasurer for our crew to guude us through thus last momentous flight Thus year the Queen was our very own MARGIE NEILL Her attendants were MARGIE HENSLEY JOAN WHITE PAT GREATHOUSE LACY SCHOVASJA BARBARA TOM and MONA LEIGH We dud not even need to land for the Coronatuon as we presented them at the Mulky Way un the Court of Mudnught on February 4th Our other celebrutues were Most Representatuve LARRY ANN BURNSIDE and GERALD MORRIS Most Fruendly DEAN CARPENTER Best AllRound WILLIAM BROOKS and JEAN CARPENTER JANE FALLIN and BUDDY MCDONALD were named as class favorutes AUDREY YOUNG was football sweetheart BUDDY MAYES F H A Beau and LACY SCHOVASJA was named as our band sweetheart The Junuors gave us our long awauted Prom on May 13th which was greatly enuoyed by all of the Senuors Then at last came the long awauted day when we received our wungs un the form of duplomas Our ground assustants consustung of MR JAMES SWANN the new Pruncupal MR MASHBURN Dean of Students and MRS EUGENIA WILSON class SPOVISOV Df0UdlY watched us as we attauned our funal goal on May 31 1955 and We reallled how W0f1deffUl ut was to be Hugh and Mighty but also how sad ut was to leave the SCl'10Ol and the people behund us that we had grown to know so well on our four wonderful flughts durung our stop over un Mudland Hugh School four gloruous years never to be equalled any tume any place I 7 .
