There at its warmth gathered the family group to find safety, comfort, education and companionship. The fireplace was a focus point, hence we have the be- ginnings of what the home has meant to civilization. To say thata person is homeless usually presents a picture of man in a state of deep loneliness. It is true that life is a journey and we are all on a pil- grimage, out when distance has lost its enchantment and a number of the various wonders has been experienced, man longs for a place to go for contentment, home is the answer. Supplementing the home today is the school, this institution being neces- sitated by a more complex living standard. It therefore behooves each individual in school to do his best to fit himself to meet the problems of life in a way that will be a credit to himself as well as all humanity. It is the hope of each of us that Midland High School will meet the needs of each individual, and that life will be much more wholesome because of our association one with another.
