TEXAS February 26, 1953 DEAR STUDENTS: Congr to you, the first students of Midland Senior High School during its initial term as a three-year school. You have assisted in making the transition from a four to a three-year school a very smooth one. It is my hope that you have this year put your own hand, heart, and humor to the task of preparing yourself for the kind of life to which you aspire. In this free democratic country of ours, we find that we as individual citizens have many privileges, and we sometimes forget that with each privilege there is a like responsibility which we must bear if our country is to continue to make pro- gress. Loyalty to school, community, and self is a most desirable characteristic. It is one of the major elements of school spirit and it is my sincere hope that we shall in the future continue to strengthen this phase of our school life. Good luck to ea atula tion s ch of you in the days to come! Sincerely yours , Frank Monroe FM: pm

TEXAS only Dear Students Has a man thinketh in his heart so is he,N not embraces the whole of a man's being but is so com- prehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of his life. As a plant springs from and could not be without the seed, so every act of man springs from the hidden seeds of thought and could not have appeared without them. This applies equally to those acts called nspontaneousn and nunpremeditatedn as well as to those which are de- liberately executed. Act is the blossom of thought, and joy and suffering are its fruits: thus does a man gather in the sweet and bitter fruitage of his own husbandry. All that a person achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his d acts. hence it is hoped that each has so developed and of mind own thoughts an student of Midland High School cultivated visions and ideals that a calmness ssession of each due to the knowledge use of our association will be the po that life has been better beca one with another. Sincerely WW Don L. Mitchell We I I N X 1 7Ti',i--
