Lackey. who for the past thirty-five years has guided the thoughts and actions of two generations of Midland students. Vv'e of the present class will inadequately attempt to reveal the splendid traits of character which have endeared Mr. Lackey to our hearts. Although we have taken our opportunities rather for granted during the past four years. we realize. as we are about to leave Midland High School behind us. that we have been immeasurably fortunate in having a leader such as Mr. Lackey. His sincere interest in our welfare has helped us times untold to rally to a school cause. His own life has brought to those of us who were his associates a fitting example of what a well rounded education will do for one. Mr, Lackey's great interest in the people, in the great orators and statesmen that he has brought to our assembly, and in the students themselves, has given him an unlimited under- standing of people. He believes that association with a great man is the most in- spiring experience a person can have. XVe believe that too, and we also believe that our daily contact with a person like Mr. Lackey will serve as an inspiration to us throughout the future. Vvle owe our appreciation of fine music and our ability to recognize great literature to his guidance. VVe shall not forget the early mornings we have spent together singing and reading: we shall not forget the love of the cultural things in life which were instilled in us bv Nlr.
