Beta CM): Rew 'tcl Rvt BycMewce The purpose of the Midfield Beta Club Is to promote the ideals of honesty, service , and leadership among the high school students, to reward meritorious achievement, and to encourage and assist students to continue their education after high school. Projects play a major role in the duties of the Beta Club. One of our most exciting projects was Teacher Appreciation Week. This club is also responsible for publishing the first Student Directory. Projects for the benefit of needy families in surrounding areas were canned food drives during Thanksgiving and a Toys for Tots drive during Christmas. QbuuLtot Couw£i Bridge Between SWewts AmL A x ust afeou Student Council representatives was elected from each homeroom and club. Bi-monthly meetings are held where students plan district and school activities, as well as, discuss current school issues or problems. In December, Council members joined with Tri-Hi-Y and Red Cross Club members to collect canned goods to donate to a local church for distribution in the Midfield area. February was a busy month for Student Council members. Several attended the Jefferson County Student Council Association workshop; and on February 12. we hosted the District Student Council meeting at our school. One State Student Council workshop was held at Minor High School In March and Council members look forward to another one this summer at the University of Montcvallo. April brought Student Council school-wide elections and our annual Stunt Night. In May, of course, the Seniors were looking forward to graduation: but we diverted their attention to another direction when we sponsored an Eighteen-Year Old Voter Registration Day. The school year flew by and many Student Council plans must be carried over to next year, but we look forward to inis enthusiastically.
