A EcotbM Banquet The football banquet was the happy ending to a year of experience. Highlights of the evening were the awards of Most Valuable Player to Michael Miller: Most Inspirational Player In honor of Keith Thompson to Hank Hamilton, and permanent captains of the year were Michael Miller and David Hydrick. Leisa McBrayer was awarded a trophy as the Most Outstanding Cheerleader. Jim Fuller, defensive lineman coach of Jacksonville State College, was guest speaker. The dinner was furnished by the school cafeteria and the dinner was served by the Home Economics Department. 73

. . . A OtW Acfatffees U e ifi . . . . . .A Otudzutus Focufty Gc The Tri-Hi-Y, supervised by Freida Hutcheson. Koni Kes-ling, and Sharon Crenshaw, sponsored a Y-teens vs. Faculty Basketball Game. Male students and faculty acted as cheerleaders. Proceeds went to the Y-teens monthly service projects. • • UUj The P. T. A. sponsored a Hootenanny as a method of raising funds for school projects. It was a night of laughter, music, and song. There was old-time square-dancing, mountain music, and skits which added up to a wonderful night of entertainment. It is hoped it will become an annual event. 72

Beta CM): Rew 'tcl Rvt BycMewce The purpose of the Midfield Beta Club Is to promote the ideals of honesty, service , and leadership among the high school students, to reward meritorious achievement, and to encourage and assist students to continue their education after high school. Projects play a major role in the duties of the Beta Club. One of our most exciting projects was Teacher Appreciation Week. This club is also responsible for publishing the first Student Directory. Projects for the benefit of needy families in surrounding areas were canned food drives during Thanksgiving and a Toys for Tots drive during Christmas. BETA CLUB OFFICERS 1st ROW: Cris Oliver, Karen Little, Patti Hendrix. 2nd ROW: Jennifer Kcrsh, Gary Griffis. Terri Jones, Leigh Gamble, Lindsey Yerby, Angie Fagan, Suzy Thompson, Donna Waldrop, Ronnie Wilson. 3rd ROW: Wanda Windham, Anna Giada, Maureen Holcomb, Jodie Barnett, Karen Underwood, Frankie Darden.
