President Roger Oglivie Vice President Ray Lenartowicz Secretary Linda Pfiffer Treasurer Melissa Love Southls Ski Club anxiously awaited the usual downpour of the white, fluffy stuff this winter, but unfortunately were met with an un' usual winter drought. Yet, never let it be said that such an obstacle would keep us home. Though trips were fewer this year enthusiasm abounded and attendance was as good as ever as frantic skiers headed for the slopes. The club attracts skiers of all levels of ability and especially provides the opportunity for beginners to be introduced to skiing and receive some free aid and instruction from the more experienced. Membership ranges anywhere from 40-70 students and teachers during the season. This year's weekend es- capes have included trips to Hunter Moun- tain, N.Y. and Waterville Valley, N.l-l. Advisors Susan Hughes and Carl Antisell along with President Roger Oglivie organized and super- vised the activities. 180

The 79-80 Eagles Chess Team had one of it's finest seasons ever. After the Elks' Club Toumament in October, the Woodpushers took home the 2nd place trophy with a 3-1 record. lntemational Grandmaster Arthur Bisguier gave a highly successful lecture and simultaneous exhibition in November. The Eagles finished in 2nd place in the Northem Division of the shore H. S. Chess League with a 10-2 record. As of this writing the Team had an overall record of 14-4 in- cluding a 1-1-O record in the league playoffs! The team was also hopeful of improving on last years' 8th place finish in the state touma- ment in March. With only 1 Senior in this yearls club, the Eagles are also looking forward to next season. 179 CHESS TEAM
