on 476.54-zffiiiaf There was a time when the names of very few men appeared on the faculty roster of Middletown High School. but today there are 22 men and 22 women. Although the feminine members have been waging a losing battle as far as numbers are concerned. they can still hold their own against the men in other things. Can't you just imagine the keen competition and clever banter if the Misses Hoover. Eldridge. Haber, Powell and Roudebusli would debate the Messrs. Beacham, Ellison. Lawrence. Evans and Schulz on the subject: Resolved that the feminine brains of the faculty weigh more than the masculine brains ? The men would also need to look to their laurels if the Misses Clark, Miller, Price and Barkley should challenge the Messrs. Lingrel, Fouts. Greene. and Winkelman to a bowling match. Musically the women seem to overpower the men, for the Misses Banker, Chalfin, Jacoby, Maier, and McDermott seem to have only Mr. Copp as a real competitor, although we hear that Mr. Neel once upon a time played the piano and that Mr. Shaw sings. To make homes attractive one needs women who can cook and sew as well as men who can build. paint, and do all kinds of odd jobs. Here there is a good team on both sides. since we have the Misses Thomas, Spahr, and Wilson to give the feminine touch and the Messrs. Raberding, Pier- son, and Adcock to give the finishing touches. It seems the women can surpass the men when it comes to a love of travel, for the Misses Haueisen, McCray, Hartman. and Easton just can't stay at home when vacation calls. although Mr. McCand- lish can tell much bigger fish stories than all of them together. In the scientific field there is no argument- the honors go to the Messrs. McMillan and Draut although Miss Shuman keeps them on their toes. And then last, but not least, we take off our hats to the all male quartette of Messrs. johnson, Barr, Kreider, and Maffett who are the business wizards of the faculty. There is no need for the women to compete-they are just outclassed. So here's to the faculty-equal in numbers and talent, and as a whole the finest faculty we know. ll6l R. W.
