UNITED NATIONS CONTEST The Odd Fellow and Rebekah Lodges in Lake County held their second annual United Nations Pilgrimage For Youth contest, The winner re- ceived a twenty-eight day trip to the United Nations building in New York and, as an additional attrac- tion this year, a day at the World's Fair, The contest is in three phases: A written ex- amination, an experience sheet, and a five-minute speech on My Community and World Affairs. Jayne Castle, Carolyn Kibbee, and Gehlen Palmer competed on the local level, The winner, Jayne Castle, went on to the finals in Kelseyville Jayne Castle where she came in second, All contestants agreed, win or lose, the ex- perience was most rewarding and challenging, I I - ni i fi l i , 4 f .6 I if' J' I fi I vsiy i Carolyn Kibbee and Gehlen Palmer V H ,,., ,Ei 1 vi L I O N S 4 B Sondra Williams and Ray Chang S P E A K I N G C O N T E ST The topic of the 1964 Lions' Club speakers' contest was Moral Integrity is Imperative to Survival, Pam Wederbrook, Sondra Williams, and Ray Change were chosen from Mr, Robertson's public speaking class to compete before the Lions' Club judges in Middletown, As winner of this phase of the contest, Pam went to Clearlake Highlands to compete against the winner at Upper Lake and Lower Lake, Pam won second there. Those who were present said they considered the contest a very close one and Pam ably represented our school.
