SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES The School of Arts and Sciences includes the depart- ments of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Languages, Mathematics, and Social Sciences. Pre-professional pro- grams are essential part of the five departments found within this school . The general courses required of all candidates for the B.S. and B.A. degrees as well as subject-matter require- ments for either secondary school teaching or for entry into graduate school are found within this school . The director of this school is Dr. Clay Tucker. School Director--Dr. Clay Tucker Fourteen teachers received their masters degree in August, 1963, through the National Science Foundation. 26

BIOLOGY The Department of Biology is one of many rapidly growing departments on campus . The department has recently added a new faculty member and also a new course which affords academically superior students op- portunity to do advanced work in certain fields . There are now one hundred and thirty-two students majoring in Biology . The major objective of the Biology Department involves presenting a sound basic curriculum which should ade- quately prepare students for teaching or graduate work in Biology . The Department of Biology sponsors the Biology Club which has established the George Davis Biology Club Loan Fund . This fund is available to Biology majors planning to enter graduate school.
