THE GRADUATE SCHOOL The Graduate School originated in 1951 . The first class composed of six men graduated in June of 1952 . The Graduate School offers graduate degrees in the area of educational administration and supervision, guidance and counseling, public school curriculum and instruction, mathematics, biology, chemistry, natural science, and social science. The school, directed by Dr. Howard Kirksey, has become recognized as one of the best in the state. SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES The School of Arts and Sciences includes the depart- ments of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Languages, Mathematics, and Social Sciences. Pre-professional pro- grams are essential part of the five departments found within this school . The general courses required of all candidates for the B.S. and B.A. degrees as well as subject-matter require- ments for either secondary school teaching or for entry into graduate school are found within this school . The director of this school is Dr. Clay Tucker. School Director--Dr. Clay Tucker Fourteen teachers received their masters degree in August, 1963, through the National Science Foundation. 26
