ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF Mrs. Alma Bass SUB Hostess Mr. James Booth Campus Printer Mr. Charles Phillips Bookstore Manager Mrs. Mary Lee Taylor Postmistress Mrs. Elizabeth Jackson SUB Recreation Director A multitude of activities, including educational confer- ences and banquets, come under the supervision of the Student Union hostess . This building, on our west campus, has a higher utilization than any other in our entire college plant . Speed and efficiency are trademarks of our campus print shop. More and more of the college printing needs are met here . Programing and super- vision of the Student Union recreation are the primary tasks assigned to the director . Table tennis, billiards, fun night, and dances are the principal activities . The Bookstore, like the modern pharmacy, has trans- cended its name. School sup- plies, and a great variety of items for personal needs, as well as textbooks , can be found on its shelves . The volume of mail in our campus post office will more than equal that of a small city. All students have now been assigned boxes . JAMES MARTIN Testing and Guidance Director ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF DIRECTOR OF FIELD SERVICES The embodiment of MTSC ' s spirit is Mr. Bob Abernathy, who has held his position since 1947. Mr. Abernathy is in charge of extension classes as well as recruitment and placement services. He holds the B.S. and M.A, degrees from MTSC. DIRECTOR OF ATHLETIC PUBLICATIONS Mr. Bob Brooks is the mouth behind MTSC ath- letics. Through his use of newspaper, magazine, and radio, MTSC sports have become of state-wide in- terest. Mr. Brooks holds the B.S. and M.A. decrees from MTSC. DIRECTOR OF MEN ' S HOUSING The newly created position of Director of Men ' s Housing is filled by Mr. James Cranford, an alumnus of MTSC. He is in charge of men ' s and couples ' housing, both on and off campus. Mr. Cranford holds the B.S. and M.A. degrees from MTSC. SUPERINTENDENT OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS Mr. Harold Jewell ' s aim, in the nine years he has been at MTSC, has been to beautify her campus. Mr. Jewell also sees that the buildings are kept clean and in repair. He holds the B.S. and M.A. degrees from MTSC. MR. BOB BROOKS Director of Athletic Publications TESTING AND GUIDANCE DIRECTOR Dr. Skinny Martin ' s wit has made him well- known. His testing and guidance programs have helped many MTSC students grow into well-adjusted citizens. Dr. Martin holds the A.B, and MA. degrees from University of Florida and the Ed.D degree from Pea- body. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Mr. Robert MacLean, Administrative Assistant, came to MTSC this year from Tallahassee, Florida; and he holds an M.A. degree from George Washington University. He assists Dr. Cope in the formulation and implementationof plans and policies forMTSC. ALUMNI SECRETARY Writing monthly newsletters, quarterly bulletins, and organizing new alumni chapters form a year- round job for Dr. Homer Pittard. More than 8000 alumni are scattered over the country. Dr. Pittard holds a B.S. degree from MTSC and the M.A. and Ed.D. degrees from Peabody. DIRECTOR OF PUBUC RELATIONS Mr. Gene Sloan keeps the people of Tennessee up-to-date on the progress being made at MTSC. This has been his aim for nineteen years. He holds the LL.B. and A.B. degrees from Cum- berland University and the M.A. degree from Pea- body. MR. HAROLD JEWELL Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds MR. Housemothers in both the men ' s and the wo- men ' s residence halls do not stop giving assist- ance after this hectic week. They continue to stand beside each student living on campus and willingly assume the difficult role of counseling and disciplining hundreds of students. The members of the efficient secretarial staff at MTSC help to determine the effectiveness of our administration. Their duties cover a wide range.
