Director of Publications Eugene Sloan is one of the busiest men on the campus. He acts as advisor for the yearbook and newspaper in addition to his duties as classroom instructor. Also, he travels about the state in an effort to interest high school student in MTSC. With his past experiences as a newspaper man and a member of the Tennessee Bar, Mr. Sloan is well placed in his position as Director of Publications. From his office go articles and press releases to newspapers throughout the state. Bursar h Mr. T. B. Woodmore and his assistant, Mr. James Jackson, are a vital part of the administration. With care they direct the finances, collect student fees, and issue paychecks. They take steps to see that no financial errors occur in the proper functioning of MTSC. Director of Field Services - V-v H If you rarely see Robert Abernathy, it is because he is such an active good-will ambassador. He visits high schools all over the state, encouraging them by his engaging manner to come to MTSC. In his spare moments he serves as head of the college placement bureau and as Alumni Secretary. A.B., M.A. Language Arts Although loquaciousness generally needs no ac- celeration among MTSC scholar, the Language Arts Department, headed by Dr. Richard Peck, concentrates on improving proficiency in speech, composition, and language. Under the direction of Mr. Lane Boutwell, stu- dents gain experience in forensics. Three dramas a year are presented under supervision of Mrs. Dorethe Tucker.
