President Cope | Dr. Quill E. Cope brings to MTSC a rich background of educational experience ranging from a rural school to the Commissioner of Education for the State of Tennessee. Dr. Cope was outstanding as an under- graduate student at TPI from which he received his B.S. degree in 1933. He was awarded his M.A. degree in 1936 and M.Ed, in 1949, both from Peabody. At the New York University he achieved his Ed.D. in 1951. At the end of his first year at MTSC, Dr. Cope has won the favor and friendship of the student body. On its trial run, the administration of President Cope has been successful and seems to predict greater years ahead for MTSC. M :A ;ident Quill E. m% Governor Buford Ellington Buford Ellington ' s inauguration as Tennessee ' s 42nd governor climaxes a career of public service which began when the people of Marshall County elected him to the General Assembly in 1948. Like his father, Governor Ellington is active in the Methodist Church. He served as a member of the Board of Stewards of the Verona Methodist Church, and was named a steward of the Glendale Methodist Church when he moved to Nashville in 1952. He also taught the Men ' s Bible Class at both churches. He is a Scottish Rite Mason and active in Al Menah Shrine Temple at Nashville. The Ellingtons have two children, 24-year-old John Earl, who will be dis- charged from the Army in January, and a daughter, Ann, a senior at Hillsboro High School in Nashville. » • Dean of Admissions A qualified witness and cause of MTSC ' s advancement is Dean N. C. Beasley. Since 1927 Dean Beasley has occupied many administrative positions on this campus. At the same time he has been recognized as a leader in state and national educa- tional organizations. His B.S. and M.A. were earned at Pea- body College. Since then, he has done post graduate work there. Dean of Instruction z In continuous demand as a speaker, Dr. Howard Kirksey organizes and supervises the formation of the schedule and curriculum. He received his A.B. degree at Union University, his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Peabody. He has since done further graduate study at the University of California. tor J x V. Dean of Students A dependable friend to every student, Dr. Belt Keathley advises, assists, and guides students over problems. He has been at MTSC since 1951 after receiving his Ed.D. from the University of Tennessee. 12 — Administration
