QV. hen this book is placed in your hands the college year of 1946 will be at an end. Within its pages yon will doubt- less find many things that will make yoti pause for a moment and lose yoiuself in dreams of the days you have just experienced. You will remember how the student body began to increase and ho v the college took on a post var appearance. You will remember the boys drifting in one by one, returning from variotis branches of the service to resiune their education. College life hadn ' t been the same withotu them, and yoti welcomed them back. You will definitely remember how the college retiuned to its wide-scale athletic program and how you rooted ior yoiu- team from the side lines. You can ' t forget binning the midnight oil as you crammed for exams, biting yoiu fingernails in class, nor the Thursday night dances. You vill remember ho v you learned to do without biuter and how you vaited for the mail to arrive each morning. You can ' t forget the color of the lea ' es in the autiunn, the snows that came in the winter and how you walked among the daffodils in the spring. Yes, these things were a part of your life at Middle Ten- nessee State, but foremost in your mind will be those demo- cratic ideals that this institution and its faculty have instilled in you as you sought a bit of knowledge. They will never fade into obscurity but will always remain a vital jjart of your life.
