Life is a flight of steps by which we either ascend or descend. When we are older and iL ' iser all of lis will un- derstand that the years spent at Murfreesboro were only steps by which we ascended to the realization of an am- bition to be college-trained citizens, capable of taking roles in society worthy of the efforts made in climbing the stairs while here

Jn mpmortam Annie C. M. Frazicr At eleven-thirty on a night of iiind and stitrs the end came fur Annie C. M. Frazicr. To the simple and beautiful scri ' ices held in the small church which she and her husband helped build came friends bearing flowers until the entire front of the church was a veritable spring bower. Words arc inadequate with which to express that which is held tight and locked within the confines of the heart. But there are memories of her that are ever and again coming to mind. And these are pleasant monnries: memories of a person who loved life and people and things, a person who made a pleasant game out of the business of living. On a motor trip just a few short weeks before her death, she jokingly called herself the minister of the exchequer because she purchased a nickel bag of candy for the party. 1 remember the lilt in her voice and the eagerness in her face as she ever turned to her husband to make some comment on the passing panorama. And the comment of a schoolmate that they were like a couple of college kids in love and out on a holiday. Memories come of her as she was in her home, the gracious hostess, ever thinking of the comfort of others and making them feci that they ivere welcome and among friends. And again I see her in the schoolroom, employing her brilliant mind and compelling per- sonality for the instruction of youth. She it was ivho, with her husband, helped many a boy and girl over the rough, un- marked road to maturity. It ivould be impossible to estimate the number of unstudied acts of kindness which she did, acts from w uch no return was expected, but which grew out of a love for going among people and doing good. The wind has lain and the stars have become dim nith the rising sun — and life goes on. But the memory and influence of Annie C. M. Frazicr will continue just as ic stars hill come out in the evening. Charlfs Liggett.
