• We, the Senior Class of ' 34, are fortunate in having for our sponsor the head of the history de- partment, a humanitarian and a philosopher. As a class, we appreciate him fot his sincere interest in our various projects and for his wise counsel, in our difficulties. As Tennesseans, we esteem him for his continued and laborious efforts in the betterment of the State ' s governmental and social conditions. As students, we respect the things for which he stands. We have begun to understand the complexities of the problems that confront us and to believe that their solution is not impossible.
