Commander CHADICK was born in Texarkana. After attending Texarkana College and the University of Texas, he entered the U.S. Naval Academy in June. 1954. Upon graduation. he reported to the USS MULIPHEN QAKA-617 in September, 1958. where he served as CIC Officer and Electronics Material Officer. From November 1960. un- til June. 1962. he served in the USS CANBERRA QCAG-25 as Amistant Missile Officer. In June, 1962. Commander CHADICK became an Assistant. Professor of Naval Science at the NROTC unit of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Following a two year tour at Tulane, he served as Weapons Officer of the USS SEMMES QDDG-181 at Charleston, South Carolina. During this period. SEMMES participated in a major fleet Technical Pro- ject, two Mediteranean deployments. and the Dominican Republic Operation. ei, U v. Commander CHADICK reported to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in August, 1966, as Assistant for Surface Missile Systems Operations and Readiness. In 1968-69, he attended the Command and Staff course at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.l. Prior to reporting to the USS MEYERKORD CDE-10587 in -July, 1971, he served as Executive Officer ofthe USS FUREH CDEG-Bl. After being relieved by CDR Robert J. KERRIGAN on January 3, 1973, while the ship lay moored in Hong Kong harbor, CDR CHADICK departed for San Diego to move his family to Yokosuka, Japan, where he is now serving on the Staff of the Com- mander SEVENTH Fleet. Commander CHADICK is married to the former LaNell CHADWICK ofNacogdoches, Texas. The couple has three children: Melanie 11, Melinda 10, and Kathleen T.

Lieutenant Commander STRASSER was born in Camden in 1940. He attended La Salle College in Philadelphia in 1958-1959 before entering the United States Naval Academy in -luly 1959. He was graduated from the Naval Academy and commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy in June 1963. During his last summer at the Naval Academy, Lieutenant Commander STRASSER took part in an exchange program between the United States and Chilean Naval Academies. -' Q'-2:1101 ' llis first assignment following graduation was as an ext-liaiige officer with the Argentine Navy, serving aboard the FRAGATA ARA LIBERTAD, the largest sailing ship in the world. ln January 1964 he reported alioartl the CSS BUCK QDD-7611 where he served as CII' tll'l'icer and Operations Officer until August 1966. lluring this time Lieutenant Commander STRASSER rnatle two cleployments to the Western Pacific. From .-Xugust lfltiti until June 1968 he served as Aide and Flag l.ieuten:int to Commander. Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla NINIC and Commander. Cruiser-Destroyer Group SI-1X'l'1N'l'H Fleet. Lieutenant Commander STRASSER entered the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts Universi- ty in -lulv 19651 where he remained until June 1971. During this time he earned the following degrees: Masters Degree in International Relations, Master's Degree in International Law and Diplomacy, and Doc- tor of Philosophy in International Relations. In 1971- 19712 he attended the Command and Staff course at the United States Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. graduating with distinction. He reported aboard USS MEYERKORD QDE-l058l as Executive Officer in September 1972. Lieutenant Commander STRASSER wears the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Meritorious Unit Commenda- tion. as well as various Campaign and service medals. Lieutenant Commander STRASSER is married to the former Barbara Anne Wagner of Camden, New Jersey and is the father of three children Patricia, Joseph Jr.. and Andrew.
