That night the annual snake dance and bonfire was held. The pep band and
queen's convertible led the snake dance through the streets of Metamora and
back to the High School, where the bonfire was held. It ended with some pep
talks and cheers around the fire.
The football game and dance were held on Saturday night. MTHS defeated
their homecoming opponents, Mackinaw-Deer Creek, by a Score of 37-O. At
half-time the MTHS band marched, the queen and her candidates rode around
the field in a convertible, and welcomes were made to the alumni.
Dancing began at 9:30 P.M. with music by Kenny Landon's orchestra, and
at 10:30 the Coronation started. Sixteen senior girls and their escorts made an
aisle through which the Queen, her escorts, and the Court marched. Queen
Shirley Hoshor's court was: .Toanne Welte, Pat Schneider, Sylvia Gilliatt, and
Peg Schneider. Their escorts in the same order were: Anton Engst, Jim
Steider, Don Fandel, Jim Welte, and .Tack Fries. Little .lean Laitus and Carol
Stephenson followed carrying the Queen's crown and her roses. After the
crowning Shirley Hoshor and Anton Engst descended from the stage and led the
Grand March.
Dancing ended at 12:30 which concluded the 1952 Homecoming.
