natronal peace and security to promote the pohtxcal economlc soc1al and educat1onal
advancement of the mhabltants of the trust terrltorles and the1r progressxve develop
ment towards self government or 1ndependence to encourage respect for human r1ghts
and for fundamental freedoms for all wrthout dlStll'lCtlOIl and to ensure equal treat
ment m socxal econom1c and commerc1a1 matters for all members of the U N and
The Securlty Councll members are those natxons wh1ch can help most to malntam
the peace and securzty The Councxl suggests and requests peaceful methods of settle
ment and uses economlc and moral pressure to keep peace The group asks the
Economlc and Soclal Councll for help and mformatlon and uses the Trusteeshxp Coun

slmllar to the Semor Class and 1ts posltlon of leadershlp ln school
We chose the General Assembly the organ of the U N w1th the largest member
shxp to represent the underclassmen It IS a gathermg of all the natxons that belong
to the U N There may be as many as f1ve delegates from each natlon In the General
Assembly xmportant questlons are drscussed and decxded It talks about the ways 1n
whlch peace can be promoted and matters relatmg to the powers and functlons of any
organ provlded for rn the Charter It may make recommendatxons to the members of
the U N or the Securlty Councll or to both on any such questlons In school whxle
the underclassmen take an actxve part m orgamzatlon they too look to the upperclass
men for help and guldance
The pomtmg arrow IS the smybol of the Economlc and Soc1alC ounc 11 and the
department to represent school act1v1t1es The functlons of th1s organ commonly
called UNESCO closely resemble the purposes of clubs and other extra currxcular
