CARDINAUS Sl I i Left to Rlght Mary Lee Noe Mlss Brucker advfser Ahce Seckler Marletta Schexder Pat Koch, Donald Halford Dear Reader Change was the keynote of the 1951 Metamora Townshnp Hlgh School yearbook Method of pubhcatnon name contents and departmental advxser were changed A letter press process was formerly used but thxs year the semors declded to try an off set process book by Inter Colleglate Press of Kansas C1ty MISSOUTI The name of the book was changed from the Parrot to the Cardmahs A contest was held to select a new name twenty mne names were entered by mne people From those entered the semors selected Cardmalxs the sc1ent1f1c name for the Redbxrd wh 1ch IS Metamora s school symbol The content was changed to add more plctures of dffferent types The adv1sersh1p was swftched from the Englxsh department to the Busmess Educatfon department Mnss Brucker was the advlser for the year Donald Halford busmess manager and Ahce Seckler and Pat Koch aSSlSt3J1tS to the bus1 ness manager Durmg the same month Mary Lee Noe and Al1ce Seckler attended an lllmols Hlgh School Press Assocxatlon meetmg at the Umv of Illmoxs They brought back several 1deas on yearbook preparatlon In bnef the process of preparmg the book was th1s P1ctures were taken developed and prmted glossy enlargements were usually made then cropped Next copy assxgnment whlch had been glvento var1ous members of the semor class were collected checked typed and exther cut or extended as necessary to f1t the allotted space Then the copy was typed on the layout mat After th1s the pmctures and headmgs were fastened to the layouts w1th rubber cement Lastly the mats were 1dent1f1ed wrapped and maxled to Kansas Cxty There the copy was reset m I B M type and then the mats were llthographed The books were then assembled and sent to Metamora for dlstrlbutlon Although many people helped w1th the yearbook a few deserve specxal recogmtxon Mlss Helton for her tlme effort and patlence m takmg a great many of the snapshots the copy wrlters for thelr work on an lmportant part of the book Pat Koch Allce Seckler Gene Schlabach and Don Halford for selllng all the advertlsmg space Mary Lee Noe for the many hours of ted1ous work on dxvlsxon pages advertlsmg layouts and drawmgs and Marletta Schnelder and Mlss Brucker for the many outslde school hours of work worry and wonderlng lf It would ever be f1n1shed Cordlally fS1gnedl Cardmalxs P S The staff hope that you w111 lxke the 1951 Cardmahs Vthlle we were not strwmg for perfectlon xn thxs book, we would apprecxate any constructxve suggestnons you mrght have that could be handed on to next year s staff to help them make an even better Cardmalls m 1952 By the way plctures of school actxvltxes ln March Aprll, and May wlllbe ln next year s book The Cardmahs Staff I , V T ,y G X - i r 4 Q5 X A ' ' ' A , - .isp 4 Q Q Y -a..A ,, , , A -L-'A L., 2 . : Q . , .
