Forty-nine students entered high school September, 1950 to claim the
title "Sophomores. " Two classmates, Harlan Whiteside and Joseph Steven-
son were not here this year. Shortly after the beginning semester Joyce
Parsons moved to Minnesota: Ronald Bader, a transfer student from Roose-
velt Junior High, Charles Austin from East Peoria, and Virginia McCormick
from Cuba were welcomed as new members in the class during the year .
At the first meeting in September class officers were elected. James
Steider, president, Martha Ringness, vice president, and James Welte,
sec retary-treasurer. Pat Schneider and Gordon Hall were elected as Student
Council representatives. Class advisors were Mr. Laitas and Mr. Etaugh.
One of the most amusing events sponsored by the Sophomores was
Freshman initiation. A bake sale held December 16 was a means of raising
funds for the class. Two parties were held during the year. One a theatre
party and the other a skating party.
