COMMANDING OFFICER COMMANDER JEANNE M. MILLER U.S. NAVY Commander Mille r is a native of Oklahoma and graduated from the Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Studies. Commander Miller was commissioned in November 1973 through the Officer Candidate School and was subsequently assigned to the Staff of Command Patrol Wings, U.S. Pacific Fleet where she served as Staff Personnel Officer, Force Human Resources Officer, and Executive Officer of the Flag Administration Unit. In October 1976, Commander Miller reported to Naval Technical Training Center Treasure Island, where she served as Direc- tor Training Support Department. During her assignment to Treasure Island, she earned a Master ' s Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. In May 1979, Commander Miller transferred to the Surface Warfare Officer School Division Officer Course and upon graduation she reported to USS DIXIE (AD-14) for duty as Operations Officer and Navigator. While on board DIXIE, she completed two deploy- ments to the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean. In June 1982, Commander Miller reported to Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Planning. Following graduation from Surface Warfare Officer School Department Head Course in December 198 1, Commander Miller was assigned as First Lieutenant, USS SHENANDOAH (AD- II) where she completed a Mediterranean deployment. Other shore assignments in- cluding attending Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia; Head, Professional Devel- opment Education and Subspeciality Branch and Head, Education and Training Staff Place- ment Branch at Bureau of .Naval Personnel. Commander .Miller assumed command of USS MEKKIMACK (AO-179) on 17 April 1992. Commander .Miller holds subspecialties in Strategic Planning and in Manpower Analysis, and is a designated .Joint Specialty Officer. Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
