' DEDICATED TO THE IVIEIVIOBY OF BOATSVVAlN'S MATE sEcoNo oi.Ass GILLIS JOSEPH IVIANCUSO, Ill LOST AT SEA: O7 OCTOBEB 1985 BUBIED AT SEA: 10 DECEMBEB 1985 Petty Officer lGuidol lvlancuso was a man we knew for only a short while, and yet, in that short while we had come to know him well. He was a man whose single most characteristic was that he was friendly, helpful, and professional, in every sense of the word, a true shipmate. Each of us must learn to deal with his tragic and untimely death in our own way. For some of us there is great sorrow at his loss, particularly those who knew him well. He was most at home at sea. He loved to be out on deck teaching young sailors about life at sea. One could look down from the bridge at his unrep station, station one, and knowing with great confidence, that there was nothing to worry about at station one because 'Guido Mancuso' was there and he had trained his men well.
