OFFICER G. FI. HALL Commander Garry Richard HALL was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on 12 February 1947 He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received the Degree of Ocean Engineer and a Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering He was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy after attending Officers Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island in March of 1971. Commander HALL's first assignment was on board the USS GRANT COUNTY ILST-1tTf1l. where he served as Main Propulsion and Damage Control Assistant. He subsequently served Damage Control Assistant in USS MILLER fFF-10911 where he was augmented into the regular line component of the US NAVY. He served following fours as Chief Engineer in USS AINSWORTH CPF-109OI and as First Lieutenant and Chief Engineer on board USS SPIEGEL GROVES QLSD-321. Prior to his tour as Executive Officer of USS MERRIMACK, he served as the Officer in Charge ofthe COMMANDER. NAVAL SURFACE FORCE US. ATLANTIC FLEET ENGINEERING MOBILE TRAINING TEAM. Commander HALL has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal f3J, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Expedi- tionary Medal. Battle Efficiency Ribbon, and Sea Service Ribbon. Commander HALL resides with his wife and three children in Virginia Beach, Virginia, EXECUTIVE COMMANDER
