MP DIVISION MP DIVISION One of the largest divisions on MERRILL, MP Division consists of four workcenters and approximately 40 hard working m en. It is our respon- sibility to ensure that the ship makes way so that MERRILL can meet her operational commitments. MP Divi- sion is where the rubber meets the road. MP Division consists of personnel in the gas turbine systems technician electrical and mechanical (GSE and GSM, respectively) rates. The GSEs maintain and operate the gas turbine generators that produce MERRILL ' S supply of electricity. They also main- tain the electronics that allow remote operation of main engines, generators, and associated equipment from cen- tral control station as well as local op- eration from the enginerooms. The GSM ' s maintain and operate the main propulsion gas turbine engines and as- sociated systems such as lube oil, fuel oil, and compressed air systems, among others, in MERRILL ' S two en- ginerooms. Both groups have demand- ing jobs that are consistently perform- ed safely. The GSEs and GSMs are some of the finest sailors on the ship. We have an engineering plant that is second to none thanks to the outstanding effort that these men give on a daily basis. TUlDGiTHtLL A couple of snipes relaxing in Bahrain.
