Paula Knutsen, Sue Tochilan, and Mary Bradley completed three of several outstanding booklets done during their study of Russia. Sue's collection of Russian materials was enlivened by inclusion of bond certificates issued by the Czarist Government, which her family brought with them to America. LEFT: Irene Hogan, artist, who drew the unusual historical studies which bedecked walls of RZOS. freshman historians meet world s people, cultures 1 How did freshmen like studying history the regional way? Some observations: It is enjoyable to see how people, so different from us, live and learn. There are many advantages . . . such as learning more about the history of countries with strange-sounding names and cultures so different from ours. Such a study has helped me to realize how much better off we are in the United States and how we should be willing to help less-favored countries. Russia and China are going to play a big part in the world in which we will be adults, and it is important to know how the people of these countries came to be as they are today. I understand much better the problems of people very different from us, and I know that while we Americans have wonderful advantages, we can learn much from the peoples of other struggling countries . . . f N: N li Q JG' Xp, JXP AJ
