Wfho can know the choices made, the graces bestowed, and the peace restored during the quiet days of retreat? . . . Seniors found a friend and spiritual guide in Retreat Master Father XVilliam Ryan, theology instructor at the University of San Francisco, formerly a prisoner in Red China for four years. In his memorable talks, Father addressed his audience as mothers and sisters incognitof' driving home points with various devices pulled from the fathomless depths of his cassock pocket. Father expressed every seni0r's prayer in a letter to Sister Mary Aurelia after retreat. I feel convinced, he wrote. that these young women will make the finest wives, mothers, or nuns in the country. DEAR LORD, lNIAKE THIS RE- TREAT MY BEST . . . Before the Blessed Sacrament P. McCloskey, J. Shambora, fburkl and B. Carson, C. Devine, ask Gods grace for them- selves and their classmates. Like their big sisters, underclassmen and juniors included in their retreat day a sung-dialogue Mass, singing the beautiful Adoro Te Devote during distribution of Holy Commu- nion. Francisan Fathers Simon Scan- lon and Brendan Mitchell conducted conferences, heard confessions, and ended each day with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. THAT REMINDS NIE OF A STORY , . . Ginny Nev'in, Alice Kapler, and Diane Cadden relax after a conference to hear Retreat Master Father William Ryan tell of his missionary years in China. AFTER MASS, julie Driscoll, Cecilia Lally, and Diana Robinson join the lunch line, still pondering morning talks.
