LET ' S HAIL THE PEACEMAKERS! During the school year, ten students from Mercer Middle School went to Georgia Southern College to participate in the Model United Nations. The United Nations i s an organization that discusses the problems that are going on in the world and tries to decide on solutions. Most countries belong to the United Nations. Mercer Middle School was the only school where all four of the countries won honorable mention. The countries and delegates follow: Libya - Jamie Kreyenbuhl, Stacey Roberts, and Amanda Reddick; Costa Rica - Dawn Evangelista, Jennifer Lewis, and Latarasha Parrish; Honduras - Bert Klein and Troy Steed; and Norway - Jay Melvin and Griffin Thomas. The advisors are Ms. Ethridge and Mrs. Collins. QUIZ BOWL The purpose of the Quiz Bowl Club is to provide middle school students the opportunity to compete on a high academic level, to stimulate academic achievement, to boost confidence, and to teach and utilize research skills. Members of the 1985 - 86 team follow: Denise Holland, Dana Allen, David Hagan, Christine Mclntyre, Dawn Evangelista, Jay Melvin, Chris Holt, and Griffin Thomas. The advisors are Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Latimer, Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Harn, Mrs. Herman, and Mrs. Miller. 58
